what to do?.....what to do?....

There is a lot of ways to colour your wonderful WOW chipboard, but what to do once it's all pretty?  One quick and easy way is to make some bunting!

I've used Words or Whatever's delicate little blooms for this technique.
First step is to punch a small hole in the centre.

To colour the blooms, I've used some gorgeous Mr Huey's spray.

Then all you have to do is tie them all up together. Easy peasy!!!

To complement the gorgeous blooms, I've threaded some
buttons too and stapled them to the page.

I have added bling to some of the smaller blooms.

This is a very simple technique that shows how easy it is to use WOW chipboard shapes to jazz up any layout!

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to Thursday’s blog post :)

I hope you are all having a fabulous week and are getting creative with lots of WOW goodness.

Here’s another idea for decorating your chipboard…… drag out your rub ons! I went through a craze with rub ons a while back and hardly use them now. Those left over patterns and designs that you wouldn’t normally use are great for adding something different to your chipboard.

To start with, ink up your chipboard if you want some colour. Then go for your life with various patterns across your chipboard.

Depending on how much of a pattern you want, you can add a lot or a little.

Then finish off with a coat of Glossy Accents and ta da……

The finished product…..

And the finished layout…..

I’ve also added a gorgeous WOW flourish with my flower cluster.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for more inspiring work from the DT and happy scrapping!

Sweetie Pie!

Hi, I've had a busy couple of weeks, I've been moving house and as of this Sunday my scrap room is set up,
so this is my first layout in my new house and I wanted it to be something which I love creating and that's the dress form, they are one of my greatest loves in life.
I used the Webster's Pages Let's Celebrate range, which I also covered the Dressform C909 in.
This photo was taken of Milly when she was 4, it's hard to think she will be turning 7 next month.

Here's a quick step by step:
1. Colour the base and the top of the dress form.

2. Cover the dress form with glue and stick down on top of the wrong side of the paper.

3. Cut around the edges, sand with file set or sand paper.

4. Make a skirt out of 15cm x 8.5cm piece of paper, border punch the bottom of the paper and fold, i have used a score pal to help with the folding but you can create it with your hands as well.

5. Glue down some tulle first then add the skirt and then some trim on top, make sure you glue it down at the back of the dress form.
6. Add a flower and lots of Kindy Glitz to bring out the bling.

Also just a quick note, this was a layout I did using the beautiful doilies for Scrapbook Creations this month, which also has our Linda as the Who's Who's Yay go Wow!

From mere book worm to book monster

Hi everyone, it's Geli here! This is my first blog post for WOW.
I got some absolutely adorable alien monsters from WOW, which I just HAD to use on a page.

Cute!
My son Joel loves to read and will devour all fantasy novels that come his way. This gave me the idea for the title (remember, I was desperate to get those monsters onto a page! LOL).

I want to share with you how I made the multi-coloured monsters using embossing powders. First I separated the different parts and embossed them individually:

The eyes needed some blue in them but we're getting seriously fiddly here. After a bit of trial and error I put a dot of glue straight from the glue re-inker in the middle and covered that with blue embossing powder (you could also use a watermark re-inker)

When I heated it with the heat gun the glue kind of bubbled and made some creepy-looking eyes. Perfect! Later I glued black mini pearls in the holes.

Then I covered the whole monster body with 3 coats of blue embossing powder (Add the second layer while the first one is still hot. You have to be fast and I wish I had his 4 arms...)
At the end I reheated his antennae only and sprinkled some glitter on top:

I did the same with the tummy, but used a contrasting embossing powder:

And heated it one more time to let the glitter or powder really sink in.

There is one more large cog frame behind the photo, which got simply inked in brown to let it become part of the background.
My son loves the page and I hope you do too!

NEW ADDITION TO OUR DESIGN TEAM

We are very excited to announce the addition of Wendy Smith to our Design Team!!

Wendy has been very busy doing some wonderful pages for us (especially since her studio has been flooded recently).
Wendy has used our "We are Family" title together with one of our new curly trees and new bird set.

In this page Wendy has used our new Cute as a Button title together with a butterfly from our New Butterfly Set, ornate oval frame and Linda Baldock's mini leaves.

On this page Wendy has used one of our new trees together with our new Large Picket Fences.

How awesome are these pages?  We can't wait to see more of Wendy's work in the future.

Welcome to the team Wendy!!!

CIRCLE FRAME OFF THE PAGE

Hi everyone,
Well, there is no doubt that I am an off-the-page type of person, I just love to display my "hard" work around the house and sometimes I even give it away as a gift.
I have been playing a lot with the circle frames (which I completely adore) and I thought I should do something a little bit different with them. So today I am going to share a very easy step by step for a little circle frame (41/2") displayed on its mini easel!
1. Detach your 4 1/2" circle,  trace it on your choice of paper, cut out and glue. I like to use a very small amount of clear glue so my paper stays nice and smooth. Trace and cut another circle, this time a 4 1/2" circle, that will be your background, glue frame over it. Ink edges. This should look like that:
2. Choose papers & some of your fav punches, assemble as per picture, distress all edges.

Attach your photo using 3D foam for extra dimension.
3. Now let's use a little bit more WOW, choose set of wings, dry emboss with embossing folder of choice (here Cuttlebug "Swirls"), then paint (I used white paint to keep with my angel theme), ink edges. This is what they look like after a little bit of TLC:

Attach on either side of circle frame using strong glue (I used Glossy Accents)
4. Add a few more punches around your photo, a little bit of white ric rac for texture and then you have it, a delightful mini project very quick and easy to realise!

I hope you liked it, thanks for having a look and don't forget to leave a comment!

How to create 3-D blooms & other things

Hi everyone. It's Tina here, and  I'm quite excited to be doing my first post for WOW.  I had lots of fun playing with the chippy and creating these 3-D blooms.
I thought I'd share a few layouts with you, and explain some of the techniques I've used on the chipboard.
I used the Mini Alchemy Blooms 3, and split the chip board by wetting it and pulling the edges apart slightly.  The quality of the chippy is fantastic, and it was still very strong after doing this.  I manipulated the upper and lower petals, and allowed it to dry before covering them in white paint.

I painted the blooms with Twinkling H2Os (or you could use metallic paint, Smooch, or Glimmer Mists).  I then added fine glitter to the centers and some chunky glass glitter on the edges, adhering it with Dimensional Magic.

Here's my layout, which is based on a sketch for the July challenge at NZ Paper Chase.

I layered the blooms with other flowers and a crocheted hand-dyed doiley.

And now for another layout...

I just love these WOW cogs, and had to make them a little grungy and rusty.

I created the rust effects by first inking with brown, red, and orange inks.  I then added some UTEE and Distress embossing powders to give different textures.  Lastly, I rubbed Inka Gold paint over parts of the cogs (but you could use Smooch or metallic rubs in the same manner).
I'll be teaching how to create this layout at Greenbank Scrapbook Shop on the 19th of August.

I hope you enjoyed my post.
Happy scrapping,
Tina
